Default Limewire/Frostwire FATAL ERRORS

Hi there people, I have been using Limewire on my mac for ages, but today I upgraded to the newest one and after a seemingly successful install a window pops up telling me that limewire has encountered an internal fatal error etc...There was a 'Review' button which i pressed which opened the following diagnosis (Which I don't understand in the slightest!) I have uninstalled, deleted and redownloaded countless times and also tried frostwire but the same thing keeps happening! Any help at all would be really appreciated!

LimeWire version 4.10.5
Java version 1.4.2_09 from Apple Computer, Inc.
Mac OS X v. 10.4.4 on ppc

James, could you see if the Java 1.5 installation (see here) may help you ?

In my case 10.4.4 with J1.4.2 and LW 4.10.5 without any problem.

I don't suppose by any small chance you updated your QuickTime to 7.0.4? If yes, uninstall & go back to an earlier version; see the Sticky at the top of this section. QT 7.0.4 has a severe bug with Java.

Did you use the online or "Offline" Java installation for 1.5?

Have you tried repairing permissions after a safe boot & then rebooting normally & then opening LW? It's normally recommended you repair permissions after any softw or update installation.

Hi there, thanks for all the ideas so far, i just don't understand this, it was working fine before i upgraded LW! Right, I've reinstalled Quicktime 7.0.1, used disk utility to repair permissions and made sure I'm using Java 1.5.0_05 yet still i get the fatal error report! I've posted the most recent one below (sorry about all these lengthy posts..)

LimeWire version 4.10.5
Java version 1.5.0_05 from Apple Computer, Inc.
Mac OS X v. 10.4.4 on ppc

As an experiment, if you want to try, set up a new user account. Then install LW into the new account whilst logged into it. See if you still get the same errors. If yes, then report it back here. (You can then delete that user account.)

Which version of LW were you using beforehand?

Hi there, I opened a new user account in OSX and tried again but still no joy, exactly the same thing happened! Before this upgrade I think I was using LW 4.8.something with no problems at all...
