Default Disk image fails to mount (SOLUTION)

First, repair disk permissions with the Disk Utility.

Restart your mac.

Download the file again from this site (to be sure to get the correct file).

It should then mount.

This was what finally worked for me after making numerous attempts and downloading multiple times. I hope it helps those of you experiencing the same.

Thumbs up

Well ... not "this" site but the LW.org site downld page is here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

Also don't use Explorer to downld the file. Preferable is Safari.

Thanks for the tips alecH !

How do I use the Disk Utilities to fix the mounting of Limewire?

First, throw away the installer for which the disk image fails to mount. Go ahead and empty the trash as well.

In your Utilities folder in the Applications folder you will find the disk utility. Launch that application and choose "Repair Permissions". You'll find a button for this option toward the bottom. It will take a couple of minutes to complete.

Then, Restart your Mac. After restart, download Limewire again. The disk image should mount successfully.

The only solution that I found worked at my end (and I really combed through and tried all of the suggestions) was to do what I described above -- repairing permissions with Disk Utility, Restarting, Downloading.

What would you suggest for those users that do not have Disk Copy? I don't know when Apple made the change, but mounting images appears to be handled by the Disk Utility (and I tried using those features therein as well). I haven't seen disk copy since Panther (10.3) if not earlier. And Disk Copy can not be downloaded from Apple, as far as I can tell. But it can be kind of hard to find stuff there sometimes.
