Can't install LIMEWIRE INSTALLER on MAC OS 9.1 Greetings Gnutella Forums: I downloaded Limewire Installer 11.5mb version for MAC OS 9.1. When I double click on it I get this dialogue window message [The Application Program "Limewire_Installer" could not be opened, because an error of type -199 occured]. I have a Powerbook 5300C, 100mhz, Power PC 603e Proccessor, with MAC OS 9.1, 8 gig hard rive with 6.2 gig available, 48 mb built-in memory, 178 mb allocated to virtual memory, 56k modem. I would appreciate if someone could please help me with this problem. Thanks.

Driver update problem or . . . time for Norton/ Disk First Aid? Happy Easter (at least here still) |

Greetings Stief: Thank you for the link. I will check it out. Yes, you can upgrade the Powerbook 5300C up to 8 gigs (internal drive). They sell on ebaY for about $48, slightly used. Last edited by Mrclassicrecord; April 11th, 2004 at 10:13 PM.

Greetings Stief: I used the link and went to Apples Support page and the number of my error message states: "-199 mapReadErr Map inconsistent with operation". I do not understand what this is saying. Could you translate it for me. And suggest what corrective mearures I could take to install Limewire. Thank you.

sorry, no--but googlig "mapReadErr" and seaarching these forums for "-199" gave the following hints: Try to download a new installer--that should be the easiest. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...=199#post41491 Other googled hints imply that stuffit might need updating or your system should be checked with Disk First Aid (or Norton). If you do find out a fix, I'd be curious to hear about it. Looks like no one else has posted about this error for a few years.

Greetings Stief: I downloaded another limewire installer, but the version, for some reason, is a document and is only 1.1 meg: "http://www3.limewire.com/download/LimeWireMac.bin". When I attempt to open it it won't open. Stuffit just engages it for a moment then Stuffit closes. My Powerbook chooses Stuffit 5.5 to do this task. I recall you saying that I could use a upgrade. Do you know where I could obtain the upgrade to Stuffit? The first one I downloaded was titled Limewire_Installer and was 11.5 meg. Thank you.
