The next version will come, when it's ready. With a development cycle of about one month LimeWire development is still very fast. Believe me if I was in charge of LimeWire development I would not keep it up.

Relax! :)

Both must be improved the network/protocol and the client, its senseless to add features which are not supported by the protocol! Developement and testing needs a lot of time, do you want a version full of bugs?

If you want infos about updates visit www.limewire.com !

If you found a bug, send them a mail!

Limewire updates the product very often, and they sure cannot add every feature, only if more user request this feature they will do it, and as I said this needs time!

Morgwen, thanks for the response. the problem is, there's nothing on the website. i've looked. i've looked and looked and looked some more and there's nothing. i've gone through every page and clicked on every link and no where do they have version information. please tell me where i should be looking specifically. you might have access to something i don't, if so, i'd be very grateful if you shared.

This is tuff

I guess it will just take time to work out anything. Everyone here has some really good points, and each are justified. But I see a trend happening here and its not good for LimeWire. I think what everyone is mad about is that their are no updates on the web page or the forums telling us just what is going on with the program. I understand it takes alot of time to do any programing, especialy with a limited staff, but status updates weekly would calm alot of people down and make them consider keeping with LW. I too am a bit upset that I dont know what is going on with the program and I payed for it thinking it would be regularly updated with the features that we all ask. Thats why I got it. LW to date is one of the most User friendly doors to date. (In my opinion) So lets just see what happens and if LW will do anything about the complaints.

First of all it isn't that hard to find the new features at www.limewire.com. Just look at the home page, near the top. Theres' a link that says FEATURES, if you still can't find it the link is http://www.limewire.com/index.jsp/features. See, now that wasn't so hard.

But anyways. I think that LW is doing great and you people are taking this a little far. People aren't going to leave just because they don't answer some of the stupid questions like "why won't my scroll wheel work." They'll leave if they don't see any updates or there is some major bugs. I've tryed several clients before LimeWire and I choose it because I can see that it's progressing and more importantly it's the first one that didn't crash all the time or screw up my computer.

I still partially agree with some of the things said in this thread. A lot of the questions aren't being answerd and the programmers seem out of touch from a user's point of view. I'm not saying that they should drop what their doing to reply to every posting, but mabey consider bringing on some people who are at least partially involved with the programmers who can frequent the forums and stuff. Also, even though there is a features list, it reads like the back of a software box. How about making a new section in the forum where the programers will start a new thread for every new feature, explaning what it does and why we should care. Then all the users could give there input on how they like it and how it might be inproved.

:( If you frequent these forums please just REGISTER. It's not that hard and that way people would know who to respond to.

I aggree

I agree with you. Limewire is a very good program indeed. It has its good points. But then agian it has its bad points. I think we are exposing the bad points because everyone is left in the dark about alot of stuff. If the developers took an hour every couple of days to answer the importaint questions then things would be a little better. I think a brand new folder should be opened for the developers to post updates on the status of the programing, and also the aproximate time to complete. Also since we pro users pay for six months I think they can update the program more often and just add less features every time instead of trying to bundle them all in at one big upgrade. My 6 months is about to expire and I would like to get in one more update before it does. If I like it, I will buy it agian. Everyone has some great points though and it will just take time to sort through them.

go look there for a second. ok, then go to http://www9.limewire.com:82/download/ and look at the upgrade dates. i think you'll find that 2.3.0 was posted on 14-Mar-2002, which is just over 2 and a half months ago. you may not be familiar with how software works, but software in development changes very fast. in two and a half months, you may have a completely new program from what you had before. this isn't a change log, this is a features list for people who want to know what they're buying. it still doesn't solve any of the reasons we need a change log, namely keeping people informed and saying what's in the newest release so people know if they want to update. i'm sure you didn't mean to be satirical completely derisive of our concerns, but that's how you came across with your message. please be more careful with your words.

The point that I was trying to make was that all of these people say that they can't find any one thing on the updates. Even when someone posted that some information could be found at www.limewire.com they still couldn't find it. I just hate it when people don't go as far as to look a little further before they go complaning to someone else.

If you would have read beyond the first paragraph of my post you would have seen that I beleave that things should be changed. Part of running any kind of business is customer support. ;^P

HUGE hashing is here, and browse host is back. How's that for changes? It may not be released yet, but it is in the CVS, and is close to release I'm sure. I compiled it and released it as an unofficial beta hehe. It works fine, and I'm glad to see the changes.

The UI was not changed much at all though, so the complaints about lack of changes will likely continue to flow in

Taliban May 30th, 2002 03:41 PM

The cvs doesn't contain many improvements over the old version at the moment. The huge code isn't complete yet and still lacks the alternate location support for downloads.
