Default sharing too many files??

I have heard rumor that sharing over 1000 files is not a good idea. Any truth to this? Also, if I am posting in wrong place, please let me know.

But now that you are here let's go. I share approximately 260 files. It seems that if you share too many files the program gets overburdened and sluggish. I have over 7,000 .mp3 and over 500 .avi's. I could never figure out why the programs did it but when I tried sharing the whole enchalada I had to use my mouse like a hot wheel toy and keep going zoom-zoom-zoom- to make it move.

I'm back!!!!! Good question, I'm sharing about 3400, but that may change pretty soon, it's getting a little messy in here! I know I'll be corrected if I'm wrong on this, but wouldn't sluggishness mean the need to increase either HD space, RAM or both? Also, I've been told never to use more than 60% of your resources, or your machine will lock up on you like it ate a block of government cheese!

When using LimeWire the only progs are the background apps and I concentrate on LimeWire. Approximately 50% of my HDD is empty, I have a P4 @1.8 MHz with 2 Ghz RAM. WIN XP SP2 installed and using Roadrunner Broadband. Now I share only about 260 files and run like a top except for the glitches in LimeWire. I tried sharing approximately 8,000 various files but now settle for these PRIME files.

I think I may seriously downgrade the amount I'm sharing, trying to spread the love, but I figure I've had them on for quite a while, if you haven't gotten them by now...will probably do like you said, and just leave it to what I have saved in my library. but I still beleive that by increasing your RAM will significantly improve performance, I've done it for two computers so far and have gotten great results.
