#1 your computer did not get messed up because of LimeWire it go messed up because of files you downloaded and opened. So far there are not any music files that I know of that contain viruses but there are allot of software files that contain viruses.

LimeWire contains no spyware or viruses if you get it from the official site the link below will take you there. If you are using BS depending on which version you are using it may or may not contain spyware.

I prefer LimeWire myself but the content should be the same for both, they both are Guutella clients thus the same network same files available. But for me LimeWire is allot faster than BS but for others BS is faster.
