Could be because of size. Some won't play DVD's bigger than 4.38 GB

Or it can be the PAL/NTSC issue. Could be that yours plays only AC3 and not normal stereo.

There are really so many different kinds of players nowadays that it's impossible to say for sure

As a side note. Funny enough the cheaper players often play more formats. How wrong is that ;)

Almost forgot. Some play only DVD-R and not +R or not RW or the other way around

Do you have a button at the back of your player for the PAL and NTSC, if you do make sure you have it on PAL as that's what you chose in the conversion...If you dont your player may only be able to play NTSC....:rolleyes_2:

Well, i know that the size was below 4GB, and I set it for PAL (as i'm in UK).... so must be the audio options you mentioned, I guess i need a new one... its seems the cheaper they are these days the better, mine cost too much & its crap!
Thanks for your help... I guess i'll have to make sure i set it to AC3 from now on.

If you decide to buy a new one you should go for one that plays DivX and Mpeg 4 as a whole.

Also make sure it plays all DVD formats -R +R -RW etc.

they are often very cheap as well. My sister got one for like £80 here

nope no button at the back so it should be in PAL which is the standard here!
Thanks tho!

Check in the players menu, you may have the choice there...
Im in Oz and ours is PAL also but my old player would play both and the player I have now gives me the choice of either via the button at the back...

Ok... i'll have a look for the manual it came with and experiment with it (as i don't know what half the buttons do on my remote, there's loads!)... but thats a good suggestion as my remote seems to have mode n audio buttons, plus others that i've never used!
Thanks.

Different players have the options in different places. Mine has it on the remote control to switch between pal/ntsc/rgb. Mine only cost $100 AUD & plays everything including mpeg4.

I didn't know we could download multi-channel ac3 dvd's. Learn something new everyday. :D I was just curious how they get the separate tracks (audio files) into the video file ... I guess muxing similar to dvd.

You're correct as always

You have to rip the audio seperate and then mux them together. Hard to get right, but those guys have a lot of training ;)
