all i cud find by messing about with my DVD player is that the audio is Dolby Digital 2CH.
Don't really understand much about that... suprise suprise!
Also, it didn't state in in the download title that it was AC3.
At least it works on The PS2, that'll do!
Whats muxing?!!

rach28 September 25th, 2006 01:31 PM

I dont have 2CH to choose from in NERO, but it does say... Dolby digital (AC3) 2.0
does the 2.0 mean 2CH?

You should just try one of each

2.0 is two channel. Try AC3 2.0 first as your player should be able to play that. Almost all new DVDs are using AC3 sound and then you can choose between 5.1 or 2.0 (7.1 is slowly starting)

Muxing is multiplexing. has to do with interlacing. The same thing actually I guess.

If you don't have a video interlazed then there will be a seperate audio track and no sound on the video file

I see.
I think the original burn I did was in regular stereo (but not sure as I didn't save the project) so i'll try AC3 2.0 and see if that makes a difference.
That'll prob take me a couple of hours to do tho, but i'll give it go as soon as I get chance.
Thanx... how do you know all this stuff, wish I was up on all this!

I often back up my own videos. Found out that DVDs are definitely not indestructible ;)

rach28 September 25th, 2006 01:54 PM

Ah yes... you can never have too many back ups... spesh when there's kiddies around.
I'll give it a go then!
Cheers All!

If i'm successful I shall post it on... if not, my DVD player shall be leaving thru the window!

Sleepless September 25th, 2006 02:02 PM

Or just give it to someone that doesn't need these options ;)

Would be a nice gesture

Hey ppl... well I tried what you said and changed the transcoding settings to Dolby AC3 2.0 and the higher quality two pass encoding. After a loooong 3hr wait, its still the same weird audio... sounds like the exorcist plugged into the electric supply.... hmmm, but I did make another discovery....
As my stereo is rigged up to the TV & DVD etc, I turned it on and lo & behold the sound is crystal clear... so maybe its the TV?????????
But how can it be the TV when Its plays fine on the PS2 which is directly connected???
I'm figuring it has something to do with the way my TV is connected, yet I don't have this prob with any other DVD's as yet.
My DVD player, stereo, cable box, and TV are all linked up in sum spaggetti junction kinda way, and i'm not fartin about with all those wires when i can just listen to it on my stereo... but was wondering if sum1 cud give me a clue as too why this is??? I'm totally baffled, although its not of great importance... its just kinda buggin me now!
Thanks anyway for all your help :o)
I guess Sleepless wont be getting a generously donated DVD player now tho! lol.

Sleepless September 26th, 2006 08:58 AM

LOL did not mean me. I already have a monster DVD player/recorder which plays just about anything and connects to my PC so I don't even have to burn DVD's ;)

I was more thinking of some friend of yours, maybe someone less well off, or someone that just never gets around to buying one.

Glad to hear you are getting it sorted though :)
