That 50 connections patch, you should work more on. When Limewire starts to use Torrents (already in the Beta) more than 50 connections are needed/preferred for faster connections with good routers.

Work the EviD Patch into the program (Does the same thing as yours except it gives the user the choice of how many connections he/she wants.)

Otherwise, quite like the idea for new users. All these things are easily done seperately, but it would help a lot to have them in a program.

ive had a look at this tool, and coding it to allow you to specify the connection number is not much of an issue, however 100 is pretty much the limit. after this the system can become unstable

Yes, but 50 is not enough, when running Limewire together with e.g. Azureus. I have mine set on 80. Some even prefer 100 (I think that's overkill, but of course running other programs as well may require a higher limit for optimum performance)
