Why is it i can preview mp3 and mpg but not avi films

Your probably missing the codecs need to play them.

CODECs list for Movies/Alternate players / Video help forums/ video-mp3 fixers

Try using VLC media player, it has the codecs built in and will play most file types.

For WMP try K-Litecode Codec Pack or XP Codec Pack 2.0.6.

If your OS is Vista: Vista Codec Package v4.4.8 (freeware).

I Have "real Player Free", But It Will Not Play Avi previews in Limewire, In Fact All My Viewing Is Done By Real Player,it Is My Default Player.
I Have Windows Vista Home

I Should Have Added, I Can Play Completed Avi With Real Player , But Not Partial Previews, Also I Cannot Use Limewire Media Player For Some Unknown Reason

LW's media player only does audio files(mp3's). Videos will launch in your default player. You can enable or disable LW's player completely by going to Tools>Options>Player(in LW).

You could also change your default media player to something else. Open the folder with your files in it(in windows, not LW). Right click a file and click on Properties > then click on "Change" > choose a player from the list > click OK > Apply > OK. Do that for each file type you want to change.
