![]() Hello all, new Gnutella member here. I am in a bit of a mess I fear. Recently downloaded to my Netbook (running XP) what i thought was a copy of the ***** software. Yes, yes, i should have know better to do so; but i did and it was not a copy of the software but rather a what may be maliciousware from a company called NetNucleus/Slow2Fast. I believe it launched something in my internet browser, take it over a bit, gather information/data and/or to re-direct my searches. Now GoogleChrome will not even function (all pages i try to open I get an error message) and I may have no way to get to the internet as Internet Explorer appears to have been wiped away. Has anyone else had this experience? Can anything be done to extract this mess? Any thoughts are appreciated. __________________________________________________ Edited to comply with the House Rules. ![]() Greetings dporgan, Welcome to the Gnutella forums. From what I could find, you have been infected via a BHO (browser helper object) that originated in Russia. A company named Emsisoft, about which I know nothing, offers a free trial version of its software that promises to remove the trojan. I think this would be a good place to start: Remove Virus Adware NetNucleus - Emsisoft malware description for deleting I got a search-results hijacker delivered as an Adobe update. My usual arsenal of antivirals failed to resolve my problem. A little research led me to download a trial version of Hitman Pro. Problem fixed instantly. I don't know if Hitman will help you with this (my 30-days ran out), but it is nice to know that some of the free trial tools really do work. I guess you need no further warning against downloading software via the Gnutella network. |

![]() dporgan Well, I've had some experience with this type of problem with netbooks (although vicariously). Your only solution is to reformat your netbook (possibly two or three times to make sure the malware has been totally eliminated) and reinstall all your applications. UK Bob PS. I've just seen Blackhorse 70V's reply, I would suggest that you try his solution first. |

![]() Gents: It appears that it is so infected that it is not allowing any of the browsers to launch (CHrome, Explorer, Firefox). So, therefore I cannot download the Emisoft solution. All page launches come back with error messages when trying to access the internet. Uuuurggh |

![]() UPdate: though the problem persisted, i did in fact open and operate in safe mode. Once there i was able to go online again. Just fyi, i did then find a program that has seemed to work "fairly" well. It is called SHopzilla. now its not free, ... I am am up and functioning without any re-directs of my browser etc. I say fairly well as the software continues to find infection everyday however, some still listed as "critical" it does quarantine them and remove them (just wondering how well if some are still showing upevery day during an overnight scan, lol) Last edited by Lord of the Rings; October 26th, 2010 at 08:24 PM.
