No we have also a live!!! We spend our private time here and cannot be 24/7 online and check every post, that why we dcided to close some forums, we have now a better overview - I was against this idea but when I see some comments here I think this was a good decision...

So I bashed an unregistered user, now I search for animated logos. :p

Gratis July 6th, 2002 06:44 PM

Ok this is stupid.

1. It is impossible to tell apart different unregistered users in a thread, making it confusing.

2. This would not be an issue if people just typed in a nickname in the unregistered box (and refrained from impersonating others).

3. If someone flames you just ignore it.

4. You should have a spam email account for registering for services. There are plenty available, even some explicitly for that purpose.

5. When you sign up for email/services keep your personal information as general as possible.

yes, 1 + 2 is true.

When Ursula and other started to insult all unregistered because of some black sheeps, the rebel in me wanted to play also an outlaw 'Unregistered'. let's all be friendly again.

I am insulting no one here.

There are frequent untruths and general negativities posted here which are of benefit to no one.

The vast majority of posters here are really great people who are here to help each other and learn.

This IS the purpose of these forums.

An incredibly small minority here choose to display their emotional problems by disrupting these forums.

That is it.

okay, lets forget it. But I think my problem with you is that you are like Seinfeld TV show. you eighther love it or hate it. Without wanting to insult you, I wish you would be more friendly, no artificially played merryness and no use of animated signatures. That's not to annoy you, not to force you my will, it's a "please".

There are 1.000s of people using Gnutella clients who are confused, dismayed and frustrated, and you are here worrying about a sig.

Wonderful.

Maybe help, instead.
THAT is the purpose of these forums.

So forcing registration isn't the solution.

How about a link that sends e-mail to all the mods or something that the mods can easily click on so that those who want to post something important can but still remain anon?

The other thing I want to know is if someone spent their time writing some code for this, would it get used? Are you open and able to test & modify this code? If a patch file was generated can you figure out how to apply it? Is this the "full version" for the software? Is it the latest release? Has there been any mods applied so far?

CycloCide is the only one who can decide this, perhaps you should send him a mail and ask him about this...

AFAIK that is the full version and its the latest release.

Well, I'm not sure if you're talking to me or ursula here, but since neither one of us are direct linking grafics from grafic archives... how 'bout we just ignore this post, eh? Too bad you're not registered... then you could have edited that post so you didn't look so stupid. :p

Unregistered July 8th, 2002 01:14 AM

you feel chalanged from every unregistered - I hope your life doesn't look that negative too. shalom alechem

sanelson July 8th, 2002 01:43 AM

No

But, it doesn't take an Einstein to figure out that the only thing (for the most part) Unregistered users want to do is flame people, so I tend to ignore their posts whether they tell me to or not! Take your above post, for example....

That, plus the fact that it makes it impossible to distinguish one unregistered poster from another. I can't tell for example, if you are the same moron that I was responding to above, or if you're some other moron.

Really, how hard could it possibly be to take 2 minutes out of your busy life and register? Or at least type a name in the box when you post? Judging from the way you spell 'challenged' I realize that your IQ is not very high, but even someone of your intelligence should be able to figure it out.

OH, and if you haven't figured it out yet, registered users can flame too.... see?

Unregistered July 8th, 2002 01:49 AM

OH, and if you haven't figured it out yet, registered users can flame too.... see?

neat insulting ratio in your posts. How old are you?

sanelson July 8th, 2002 01:51 AM

22. You?

Unregistered July 8th, 2002 01:56 AM

Mr/Ms Unregistered:

Please look up the posts across this forum posted by the registered users. You will quickly find that the members of this community constantly help and direct registered and unregistered users of this forum alike... on a daily basis... gleefully.

There is a particular issue that you, specifically, (not ALL or any other unregistered user) have failed to address: Why is it that someone who is so obviously intelligent and experienced as a user of the network unable to focus his/her energy on helping less experienced users (both registered and unregistered) to solve the problems they encounter... instead of depleting forum resources and energy with such negativity?

You always have some kind of snappy response... and never answer to that inquiry. I ,for one, would like to hear your answer.

Unregistered July 8th, 2002 01:59 AM

older - and you know I'm not really suprised. :) again try not to be challanged by every unregistered. it doesn't mean this user is a moron and you have to **** everyone off, it means this is a guest.

sanelson July 8th, 2002 02:05 AM

No

We're all guests here. It's just that some of us are registered, and some of us don't want to stand behind our words because they're mostly flames.
Take a look down the Site Feedback forum. Notice how many threads are started by unregistered. Now count up how many of those threads are flames.

bpmax that was you, right? what should I say, you are totaly correct!

the problem is I was posting as unregisterd and friendly etc..... and got p-i-s-s-e-d in every few posts by registered members, who thinks all unregistered can be trashed if you don't share the same opinion all the time. I agree to your post. unfortunately when members as sanelson or ursula (in the past) keep trashing innocent guests, they cause anger and provoke flamish responses. Detailed enough? :)

Shalom.

Morgwen July 8th, 2002 04:28 AM

Ähem...

registered and unregistered members can you please speak like mature people, I mean why you insult each other? Is this solving anything? This discussion should find alternatives and not proove who flames more...

I said it already there are a lot of registered members who flame BUT its much easier for us to track such posts etc., so its not that unregistered user flame more or are more bad, ITS FOR US EASIER...

Needless to say if this thread is proceeding this way I will close it...

We really need a rant forum here!

That's because they are actually REGISTERED users who want to flame someone but not take the blame for it.
If they have a normal post, then they log in, but only use Unregistered to flame.
So much for registering saving you all from flames.
Now go and match up the IPs of all the flames against the IPs of registered users and let me know what you come up with, and don't forget to ban those registered users who flamed.
If they didn't register then they wouldn't have to worry about some mod with a bad temper removing their account because they posted against that mods favorite client.

I think people fear the unknown.
I think people fear things that are different.
I think people have a herd mentality.
Seems kinda insecure to me.

I check the IPs and I know what is going on, but I don´t think I should post them in public...

This will never happen and you know this, nobody if registered or unregistered has to fear that he will be banned... did I mention that its much easier for registered people to complain about something that might be wrong, you can send PMs and mails to the mods, we don´t want to discuss all things in public and believe me if something is wrong we do something... but as I said don´t expect a public statement...

That never happens. Do you know how many (absurd) posts that say "x client sucks" I've read? Nobody will remove your acount because of that, although you could be told to be more constructive.

hehe, that's a good point! actually I didnt expect, but yes this could be true. while registered members complain about unregistered, it could be eighter a guest or just a logged out member. a theory: members which complain loudest about unregisterd, might be unregistered who flame often. it's a psychology thing, like fire devils coming back to the place they burned down.
