How do I download a movie and copy to VHS or DVD

I am using a Mac. I want to down load a movie and copie it to a VHS tape or DVD. How can I do this?

Downloading is easy. Search for the video download it - for larger files you should have at least ADSL or it needs ages.

To copy it on a tape. I didnīt try it but it should work with a TV card. Connect your PC to the video (via the card), play the movie and record it while playing, as on TV. ;)

For DVDs you need a DVD burner, without it it isnīt possible to make a DVD. And of course you need burning software which supports DVD burning (all newer/better ones should do it).

The first problem is I have down loaded two movies on in mpg and one in avi. I have not been able to get eatherto play on my Mac.

I have a Mac G5 dual 2 Gig, with 2 Meg of ram and the Formac TVR.

I have the TVR connected to a VCR and am trying to record a movie that I recorded and stored on my hard disk from a DVD.

When I try to record to the VCR I do not seem to get picture or sound to the VCR. I are RCA jacks connected to the TVR and VCR. As best I can tell they are connected correctly. I can play a video tape to the computer screen through the TVR so I know the RCA jacks a right from the VCR to the TVR. I have the RCA jacks going from the TVR to the VCR also. I have a TV connected to the VCR and can get a pre-recorded VCR movie to play on the TV.

The problem seems to be that I am not getting any signal from the TVR to the VCR.

This is really two problems; One being able to play movies that I download. Second, how to record them.

Did you try the codecs?

For the other problem, you should ask the manufacturer of the video recorder, hotline or something like this.

Yes, I down loaded the files, DivX and it made no difference.

I downloaded "Scary Movie" in the mov format and it played. But it was only a movie preview. I played it twice and the first time QT quit.

Download and install ALL... you will need them earlier or later...

Do I just put them all in the same folder? Also when I try to open a movie does the computer look for the codecs until finds on that it can use and open the movie?

As I said I am not a Mac user, but they should work the same way like the codecs you installed already, you donīt neeed do choose a folder (at least not on Woindows). I will send Stief a PM (he is my Mac adviser ;) ).

Nice equipment you have there BAtoload, and Morgwen sure went to a lot of work to help you.

For installing the stuff, just follow the directions that come with the installers (I'm assuming you are using Panther). If you are on OS 9, the Indeo codecs are just dropped on the system folder, but if no dialogue pops up, drag them to the extensions folder and QT will find them.

For help with your other questions, try the Apple G5, Panther or QT forums at http://discussions.info.apple.com. The iMovie forum gets quite detailed about hardware connections.
