Lord of the Rings has a distinguished reputation

Using VLC - (click on link) will prevent that happening. To make it your default player, see Setting Default video app.
In general for any type of video you seek, 50 MB or even 100 MB or larger is best. Also, avoid .mov & .wmv files.
