Hello hazel1944,
Welcome to the forums.
Your solution can be found here: Error "1402: Could not open key ..." or "1406: Could not write...to key..." when you install Acrobat or Adobe Reader (6.x-9.x or 3D on Windows)
Not long ago a movie that I tried to play displayed a message that I needed to update my Adobe flash player and then took me to a webpage that looked like the official Adobe site, where it asked to install an update. I exited and then went to the real Adobe site, which said that I had everything up to date.
Another movie took me to a Microsoft-looking site "to update my CODECs" to play the movie. It was another bogus site. I then made sure that none of my players can access the web without my permission. I continue to NEVER install any software via pop-up notification, and always go to the official site to see if an update is really necessary. |
