Also, does the newer versions give me more song availability?

All versions connect to the same Gnutella network. Files available for download will depend on how many people are sharing a particular file at that time Searching at different times of day (as users in different time zones log on & off) can make a difference to which files show up in search results.

But as of version 4.16.5, LW will only connect to LW versions 4.14 & above... so you won't be able to connect to any users who're running 4.13 versions or older.
