How to change download file types

I've been using Limewire for a while downloading mp3 files with no problem. Recently, I downloaded a wma audio file and when trying to send it to itunes it asked me if I wanted to convert it. Now, almost every file I try to download is an au or wma file instead of mp3. Is there a setting that I can change to get back to the mp3 file formats? Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

All .au files are spammed junk. Likewise a reasonable % of WMA files are spam. Many of them dangerous (contain viruses & worse.)

Sounds like you are using LW 4?

Add .au and .wma to your keyword filters so they will not show up in search results. Make sure you put the dot in front of those extensions else you may filter out a filename that is good.

If using LW 5 you will find keyword filter under Tools -> Options -> Search. Alternatively you could add to extension filter instead.
