If still problems, is this the first time you have attempted to run LW or an experienced user?

LW user 5 years or so system 15 plus years from the days of the 386, I have purged the LW from the system prior to each install attempt well over 6 times so far. Just getting LW installed was a challenge. I had to be on the ready to click and add my key code in a split second or the screen I delayed on just would lock up. Finally got it installed (I purged all the prior attempts to install before trying a fresh install again) I clear the LW file from here (C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire) at each attempt. I used reg cleaners prior to each attempt to install. I have now have LW 5.5.6.0 installed, I loaded a LW from this past summer I still had a copy of and then put LW 5.5.6.0 over top of that and it installed. Now I have this new problem at load it locks up with in a few seconds and you have to close out with Task Manager. when I loaded LW an earlier version that earlier version worked fine worked fine. I kept getting the popup to upgrade so I did the other day. Through out all this I even got a balloon telling me my version of VISTA is not genuine and I had to go through the process for re-entering the product key. I have no real big issues with other non Microsoft software just this LW PRO. I even paid for it. Have thought of going out to grab a copy of Windows 7 to try for a fix but I just bought and Loaded Vista a year ago. Really driving me crackers on this issue went through the FAQ's on LW site but nothing lead me to a fix.

Are you sharing heaps of files?

Do you have lots of incomplete downloads waiting to resume?

You could try updating Java (or reinstalling, if you already have the latest update): Java Downloads for All Operating Systems - Sun Microsystems

Download the offline installer & remove any other Java versions via Control Panel before installing this one. Restart your computer after installing the new Java.

Thanks for your input, I have no other downloads in waiting everything else downloaded and installed first time out of the gate. This LW just will not respond, I did remove it and removed Java. I downloaded the LW went off line to install and did remove all the Java prior to said install. Then before restart reinstalled Java and reboot LW still locks up. I have the original DELL XP system disk but misplaced it I was thinking of removing Vista loading XP load the LW then upgrade to Vista. I just can not seem to find my XP Disk which came with this dell.
Still baffled here in N.E.PA.

Minimum files shared 100 MP3's ( I swap them out weekly) That way they are not always the same. I put about 75mbs in applicaions in the shared folder and there to I change out weekly. No video shared. It is not an issue of just simply waiting for the shared folder to load in which is stalling LW. As a test I went down to about 20mbs total shared to see if that helped LW but no change. I give it 30 minutes or more to load and have every other no essential program closed and no help. I would be happy with the older version of LW except I went and paid for the upgraded version and wish to use with it is I paid for. I feel if I do not get it to work I just lit $40.00 on fire.
