Maybe changing the compatibility mode can do the trick. Right-click the LW icon on your desktop and go Properties>Compatibility and change the compatibility mode to Windows NT or Windows 2000.
What LW version do you have, by the way? And do you have any Security Programs running, which might prevent LW from opening properly?

A deletion of the LW preference folder could also be of help. Read here on how to do this (Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire):
