Uninstall LimeWire and delete the "C:\Program Files\LimeWire" folder
completely to be sure the old one is really gone, then download this
full installer and install it:

http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe

Uninstall using Limewires uninstall and not add/remove
Start -> All Programs -> Limewire -> Uninstall

Ok here's some further instructions that may help you to install (Clean Reinstallation Instructions) -- let us know how you get on

Yes -- xp and vista are windows operating systems -- hp is your brandname of your computer (Hewlett Packard) -- have you removed your old version of java from the add/remove program -- try the (clean reinstallation instructions) in post #4 again -- if your problem persists --
In Limewire Links (below) click on (system details) fill in and post back here

java still will not install for me, this is the error I get when trying to install the version on post 4. :( it must hate me,

This installation package could not be open.
Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid windows installer package.

its been doing that with the errors, what more can I try other then buying a new pc?

thank you some much for the help you have already giving me.

Hi tinkerbelle,

you could be correct there -- the system requirements for LW Basic is 256 mb of ram -- this is more than likely the problem -- you will have to update your computer and your operting system
