I had almost finished answering your first post & I crashed then forgot to get back after becoming busy.
Seems like something is blocking you. Possibly ports for allowing LW to connect are blocked. Else it's your security settings. The fact you cannot access various links on the forum suggests security settings problem.
McAfee may have a firewall also but you suggest you disabled the firewall.
Setting up an exception for LimeWire in your software firewall (click in link), however if LW is not yet installed this might be difficult to add.
Offline installer is always the best to use. Another alternative is the
Other Systems version

Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use!
There is a chance you may need to port forward the D-Link device for your Laptop. If this option is used, must set up static ip address first.
