Three weeks ago or more a helpful minded folk did "download the most recent of everything". "

It appears that the problems began around that time frame (with the exception of viewing avi files which has always been the case.).

This is a simple computer... like a 3 cylinder as opposed to a turbo.

Speak french but not spell. Plenty left available.

1) Hmmm do you have winxp service pack 2 installed?

2)right now your modem is NOT a simple modem: it is a modem + router. The bridged link makes the modem do only it's modem job, no more. This means your computer has to tell your modem to whom it has to connect. Hence the PPoe config on your computer.

Est-ce plus clair maintenant?

Ciao

Thanks for your reply.

After an intense search of my library- all french books are missing except " Barron's Educaitonal Series tape series circa 1985.".

This is an unexpected blow. Don't take your library for granted- especially when you move.

Best. D.

What is it you don't understand? If it's in reference to win XP's SP2 update, it can cause problems with connections & you'd need to re-check all your firewall configurations & possibly do more such as apply special patches to repair the damage SP2 has done. There's no need for anybody to update to SP2!!! It's intended for big companies with major networks, but even then its caused major problems b/c like most things MS does, it contains bugs & behaves in ways it shouldn't. MS never tell you about these things. It has cost big business many millions of dollars in lost revenue & all due to MS's lack of competence.

Who says it's lack of competence? If they do that in purpose (check deepblue's links in his sig if they are still the same, then I'd say that they're really really competent. Especially at making money.

Greetings,

I did not contact the internet provider as LOR suggested as it appears the issue resolved itself.

Recap: Connection issues so went through the RX main page of LM. Udated to newest version of LM re: advice. Still had problems... but the situation appears to have resolved itself. Was going to call internet provider (sbc- dsl)) for a walk-thu on opening the port but there is no need at the present time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it is the motto for now. Everything is and has been bright green on my end for th past five days.

LM signal being received is a from a sub-station of a sub-station from the CO. Comments welcome.

D.
