Hey what I'm totally new at this whole firewall thing. I don't have Linksys but I'm having a similar issue. No firewalls on, but can't even search a song.

Suggestions?

Currently using Windows XP 2002. Oh and this issue comes and goes...

Thanks

Shanna

Run through these tips first: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html

Also make sure your XP firewall has LW as an exception. User Cant Connect - LimeWire

If still problems, post back more details if you can about your set up: System details - help us to help you (click on blue link)

Default LW + FW Blocking

I have a Linksys router with UPnP enabled and various other p2p clients work fine. I have set it in the router to manually fwd the port to this machine, but no matter what i do it keeps saying trying to connect and has the FW icon.

Im using FreeBSD .. any further suggestions ?

Which Linksys router are you using? If it's any of those with 54 in the model number such as wrt54g then it has buggy firmware & needs to be port forwarded to work more efficiently. It's UPnP will not work reliably.

It is 1 of those with 54 in it, and i had manually port fwd the ports it show sin the setting sin Limewire but it has made no difference, i set it to manually fwd on a set port for both tcp & udp before i left for work, restarted limewire and it is still sitting there trying to connect saying about the firewall .. my torrent program i use works quite well, which is ironic.

Did you set up a static ip first before doing the port forwarding? Else the pf rule would not work. You'd need to remove & do it again. Other options: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html

You could also try an older version. You'd need to remove the present one first. LimeWire - OldVersion.com LW 4.16 or 4.12 are the ones to try.
