These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. | Don't post the numbers here. They are for your own use. Do you remember if there has always been a wall in front of the globe in Limewire? Your router should support UPnP (At least it says so in the specs). If it does then you shoiuld not have had a wall in front of the Globe. I can't find an online user manual for it which kinda sucks. I'm finding very little info on your ISP. Can't find any complaints about them shaping or blocking P2P programs due to excessive use. Actually found more users praising their service. The only negative I found was that they had strict rules against running webservers through their normal household services, but that sounded like they would ban the user completely if doing so, so that's not it. Try changing the listening port to a high number (eg. 64069). Also try to revert Limewire to default (in the options somewhere). Remember to reset days to keep incomplete files to a higher number when you do. If you have any incomplete download right now, cancel them. It will only put more stress on the program if it has trouble connecting. There are other fixes you could try here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=36420 Deleting the preference folder might help Try this to get into your router. I don't know if it's your exact router but the first three numbers are the same. http://www.portforward.com/english/r...2/Limewire.htm If the username and password don't work then you have to call your ISP for the right one. Try to find out if UPnP has been turned of somehow. You could try Portforwarding if nothing of this works. Remember the static IP if you do. The numbers I asked you to write down will be needed for it. There is a link from the page above. Just follow the instructions on the page. |

I am getting totally lost trying to follow all these different instructions. When I did the search and delete the lime wire file, well lime wire was gone. couldn't open it anymore. My numbers through the net work connections are automatically put in as they don't show up. So I just don't know where to go from here. This is very frustrating.

There is no file on his computer like the one you are telling me to look for. I guess I can't send you a copy of what the search page looks like when I search for limewire right??? No place for attachments in here. There are C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator......but nothing with a username nor application data files. I tried to go to the links that you sent me but I get very confused trying to follow the instructions and finding some of the things it says to do. So trying to be specific. I'm having a hard time following the instructions on any of the links. I guess I just don't have those kind of capabilities to follow them. Dumb maybe!! Just wondering, could there be a virus in the ocmputer that's not showing up on the AVG be in the computer and affecting anything??? AVG hasn't recorded any virus' but just wondering. Should I try taking Limewire out and downloading it again??

It has to be there. Did your read through the whole link (the part about it being hidden, and how to find it) Post 3 & 4 in the link Also if you have had an older version installed first, then it will be called .limewire You can try removing Limewire and then reinstalling it but I doubt it will do much good if you don't delete the preference folder. Remember to remove it using the uninstaller and not using Add/Remove Programs. If you are logged in under an account named administrator then that's your **username** Also it is possible to attach pictures here. Furder down the reply page it says Manage Attachments.

Alright, this is probably a bit late given that the forum took three days to send me an activation email, but I may still be able to help. I got a problem similar to the one you have described spontaneously on Monday of this week. I found this thread while browsing for solutions, alongside attempting to fix it myself. Firstly, the symptoms: 1) Upon loading Limewire failed to connect to the Gnutella network. The connection status (bottom-left) remained on one bar indefinately. Restarting both Limewire or my computer did nothing to resolve this and I was still able to run all other programs that accessed the internet. 2) Total messages sent to the Gnutella network (Tools -> Statistics -> Advanced -> Gnutella -> Sent -> Number -> Total) was always one, which was sent immediately upon loading. Usually messages are sent around every 12s to maintain an average of 0.08 msgs/s to ensure that Limewire is still connected. This was also true of other message request protocols including those to other clients. 3) Total messages recieved from the Gnutella network (Tools -> Statistics -> Advanced -> Gnutella -> Recieved -> Number -> Total) was always zero. Usually messages are recieved to an average of 0.03 msgs/s. The deduction: Given that Limewire was not sending messages as it should be on a regular basis, there must either be some setting within Limewire that is now telling it not to send messages, or Limewire is awaiting a message that is not arriving and so does not continue to attempt a connection with the Gnutella network. The latter may be caused by the initial message not being recieved intact by the network, again possibly due to a local setting. This is naturally speculation as I am not familiar with p2p program methodology. The cure? If you have these symptoms (I suggest you check the statistics, although they may be typical of all errors of this type) the first cure I stumbled across was simply to use Limewire's inbuilt Restore Default Settings feature (Tools -> Options -> Restore Defaults [Button at bottom] ). This was irritating as it removed all custom settings, reset the library and required you to go through the first-time startup process again, but it was easier than running through the entire uninstall/reinstall process. Of course if the Limewire exe file is missing (typically stored at; X:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe where X is whatever letter is asigned to your primary hard drive) you may as well use Limewire's installer again. I hope that helps someone. If you have any questions I will check this thread a couple of times, but since I no longer have the issue I cannot gather any further information with regards to it. Good luck. Ikara {The Guiding Light}
