Default Starting Connection, Downloads Happening but Searches are Not

Hi guys, I'd really appreciate some help. I've been using Limewire Pro 4.10.5 for over a year now. I rebooted my laptop and reinstalled limewire yesterday but I've been getting the Starting Connection status at the bottom. I've tried deleting the .limewire file and restarting the programme. The first time I did that, it worked. Today when I tried again it didn't. I still get Starting Connection.

The strange thing is, the incomplete downloads are currently downloading, although at a slower rate than normal. But I can't do any searches. I get the popup message saying that 'Limewire is connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network.'

I don't know what the problem is. I've tried disabling all firewalls and antivirus programmes on my computer. I'm not doing anything differently to what I had done before I rebooted the computer.

Computer details are as follows:
Toshiba laptop - windows xp professional version 2002
Service pack 2
Orange 8meg broadband via wireless livebox
Intel ProWireless 2200BG wireless adaptor inside the laptop
Limewire Pro 4.10.5
Connecting from home
512mb ram
60gb hard drive, 40gb free
I've tried the test link and was successful
I've tried the .jar link and that wasn't successful
Done all the exceptions lists on the firewall
Another laptop also connects in the house but this has never been a problem before. Both have connected through intel wireless inside the laptops.

I would desperately appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the lack of support. Even if no one knew an answer, it would have been nice for someone to say so. Keep it up! When we buy limewire, this is the sort of support we get I suppose. What a waste of money.

Post I'm examinating your case...

Be easy, there are lotta cases to solve, and as this is a forum runned down by voulnteers, you may not get your answer that quickly as if you were with payed support stuff or on a IRC chat channel...
I think there's MalWare on your Pc, go to safe mode (reboot and press F8), then start a scan with everything you've got, and see what you catch up....

VediaHasan,
Sorry you've had to sit there for so long without any help. Sometimes posts get missed or forgotten, it just depends on how many of us are here answering questions at the time.

Had you used an older version of LW before 4.10.5? If you had, you could have a preferences folder in the old location of C:\Documents and Settings\your username\.limewire...check to see if you've got an old folder there & if so, delete it. I'm suggesting this as you said that deleting prefs worked once & you would've deleted the folder from the new location (for 4.10 onwards).

Can the other computer in the house connect to LW?
I assume you're seeing the firewall icon?

I can't find much helpful info about the LiveBox. I guess it has a firewall, because in the FAQ below there's a link given to the portforward site (lots of people portforward to overcome firewall probs with their router)
http://zxon.notnet.co.uk/orange/#3.1

Follow the link within to the portforward site & choose LW from the list of programs. Then follow the instructions. Don't forget to set up a static IP...you'll find a link within those instructions. LW's listening port & the port forwarded must be the same number.
Let us know if that helps at all.
