Thankyou, we must do this at least 10 times a day lol...
Here are your instructions to port forward...
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...4/Limewire.htm
Also the instructions on how to set up a static IP...
http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm

Make sure you follow those steps very carefully as if you miss any at all it wont work...
Let us know how you go...

Hi Wondering Why :-(

Things not going well..

Bit confused..

Did all the things to set up Static IP. Couldn't find DNS/Name Server, so call ed up NTL my ISP, and he said I couldn't set up Static IP as NTL change their IP address all the time... Didn't really understand what he was saying but eventually he gave me name server nos - a primary IP and Secondary IP, which I input into the internet protocol screen under the DNS server address.

This is the end of the set up process of setting up an static IP, but what is my static IP Address is it the IP address or Default Gateway address???

Then went on to set up port forwarding,

Set up two one called LImew1 and the other Limew2, use the port no. 38204-38204 in both inbound and private ports, one TCP and one UDP, ticked the enabled box for both

Does Limewire now connect??? Answer NO!!!!

Are NTL right, I can't set up a static IP????

V confused!!!

Your ISP is wrong you can set up a staitic IP even if you have a dynamic one...I should of pointed out that if you cant see the DNS server numbers you would need to ring them, but don't mention what you are trying to do as most of the customer service people haven't got a clue...

Let's say if you had purchased World of Warcraft, you would have to forward a port for that as well to be able to play it...

At the end of the static IP set up instructions, it should give you your number it would be the IP number, did you enter that number where the port forward instructions told you to...

This is the part I'm talking about....
Cannot connect HELP-2007-01-28_073552.png

Also did you place 38204 in the manual port forward and listen box, they need to be matching...

doh!!, bit stupid.

in the static IP set up, i put in my default gateway and IP server and it gave me 5 static ip addresses. I took the first one 192.168.2.136.

I put this no. in the IP address in the INternet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties screen, and also in the Virtual servers page of my router set up.

Yes I did put the same no in the manual port and listening port.

Still no joy.

Another question in the Port forwarding pages. its shows a screen shot of DMZ page, where there is no static IP address, but there is a section to enter a Privare IP address!!

The instructions don't say to do anything with this page.. in my set up page though there is a static IP address on this page of 86.7.169.182. Do i need to input a Private IP address and enable this page???

I think I'm getting close stick with me... thanks for your help!!!

You could try it and see what happens...

I did notice in that box you are talking about it says something about disabling the NAT firewall for one computer, have you thought about doing that as you still have a Macafees firewall to keep you safe...Oh and on that subject have configured that properly to allow LW...I would disable that while you are trying to port forward as if you do do it correctly and it's Macafees wall to blame you won't know...

And don't worry I'm sticking with ya...

Hello dude,

Totally lost now...

Disabled NAT on Belkin.. Macafees defiinitely says is granting access to Limewire..

Initially had problems connecting to the web which didn't happen before, so had to go to the internet protocol page, and tick find iP address automatically..

Now I can't seem to access the settings on the web for my Belkin Router... Tryed typing in 192.168.2.1, but now says the page cannot be displayed.

On the vere of giving up!!!!

Guess what I just found when I googled your ISP....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTL

And in particular this part, your ISP uses traffic shaping ....
Cannot connect HELP-2007-01-31_102102.png

So I am starting to think this is the reason for the sudden lack of connection...Give them a ring and ask them what their policies are...Oh and I'm a dudette...lol...
