ok, ive done everything everyone's said to do throughout this 45-page thread. ive deleated the .limewire thing, disabled the tips, disabled the speed thing, and nothing worked. i downloaded kazaa and it worked, but i hate kazaa and limewire is in fact better. so now i assume that my problem has to do with my ISP, as you have suggested could be a problem. so what do i do to fix it? i have windows xp and dsl. someone please help.

Please answer the set of questions I posted earlier as well as do the tests I suggested. Then we can have a look at your situation & see what might be wrong re: settings or abnormal set-up, eg: router, etc.

10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.: new problem, have had it for almost 6 months, it worked perfectly until I tried to switch to Pro, first problemsabout a month ago, gave up on it after about a week, then tried again.

trippinout38 sometimes when you swap over to pro it's advisable to delete the LW preferences whilst LW is closed; instructions: Fixes for Limewire I suggest this b/c your LW was obviously working ok before.

I also have a DI Link but I was forced to forward a port. I don't think DI Link use Universal Plug and Play (UPnP.) If you wish to try port forwarding then use the following instructions very carefully & in that order. Most important is setting up a static ip. Also do a separate port forward (PF) for both TCP & UDP.

Steps:
1. Set up a static ip

2. Forward Port 6346, instructions for this & setting up a static ip here: http://www.portforward.com/dlink/di-524.htm (Find LimeWire on the list when you get to the PF stage!)

3. Within LW: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.

Help please

My laptop wont connect to any filesharing programs.Im using a wireless high speed internet connection, but i can search the web and can connect to Aim. I tried using Limewire and it wont connect as the other programs do. I followed the steps and deleted the ".limewire" folder, But i still can't connect. Any tips will be realy great =\.

My bet is you have a blocked port. Probably due to your wireless but let's hope if that's so ... it's not your isp.

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

What brand & model of connection device do you use? It would've helped had you answered the above questions. I can only help with as much as you tell us.

Go to this site & choose a file to downld: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml & if you can downld it, see if there's more than one source under the # column. If yes, try to browse them. This might help you to get started.
