![]() Hi Bob thanx for the advice, but i think i will give the (commad line) method a miss! I will run through a series of events with you & i hope you might be able to deduce from that, where my firewall problem may come from! 01. I changed over to a new ISP, but they did not provide me with a modem/router, i decided to carry on using the (Bt Voyager 105 usb modem) that i was using with my previous ISP (aol) 02. The day of the migration, i realised that when ever i opened (limewire) there was a brick wall showing on my connection, but my connection is still going upto turbo charged. (very slow download speeds tho) 03. After a few days of configuring, i realised that my windows xp firewall was switched on, altho i thought it was disabled. At that point i decided to disable the xp firewall & hey presto, no more brick wall in (limewire) problem solved. ![]() 04. A few days later i had my computer formatted & windows xp reinstalled. My current Isp adviced me to invest in a Belkin modem/router, so i went out and bought one! 05.I got my Isp to set up my Belkin modem/router for me, i also installed Java Runtime 5.0 update 11 then i installed (limewire) back onto my computer, upon opening Limewire, guess what? that damn BRICK WALL again! ![]() 06. At that point i headed straight to my windows xp firewall & disabled it, believing that the brick wall will go away, just like it did before, but on this occasion the brick wall did not go & is still there. 07. This has got me wandering, that the firewall is coming from elsewhere on this occasion & not from windows firewall, due to it bieng disabled. In between all this, i have configured my (Avast Anti Virus) updated Java, deleted the limewire preference folder, so i'm pretty certain that i can rule out these things as bieng the cause! I think the problem could lie with my modem/router built in firewall & i am considering going back to using a usb modem! I hope u can look at this information & give me your opinion on where this problem is coming from! thankyou for ur previous advice |
