![]() I haven't been able to connect with Limewire for close to a month now, and I was going back through all the potentially useful suggestions I could find to see if any would help me. I'm currently working (again) on replacing my gnutella.net file, but it doesn't seem to download properly. I tried both links provided in birdy's sticky thread, but each one ends up as an MPEG-1 Video file, with a QuickTime icon visible. Prior to this connection difficulty, I had trouble connecting and so replaced my gnutella.net file then--that time it worked fine, the file looked like a blank page as it should, and I was able to connect once again. I don't understand why the download window appears saying I'm going to download a binary file yet it ends up being a video file. Can anyone help with this oddity? |

![]() I had the same problem last week: my daughter lost her connection with LW so she tried to download a new gnutella.net file from here it came out like this :- http://node02.hewson.cns.ufl.edu:8080/pwc.cgi http://cache.kicks-***.net:8000/ http://kisama.ath.cx:8080/ http://crab2.dyndns.org:30002/gwc/ http://overbeer.ghostwhitecrab.de/ http://starscream.dynalias.com/ IntoMobile - Mobile Phone News and Reviews IntoMobile - Mobile Phone News and Reviews http://gwcrab.sarcastro.com:8001/ http://gwc.jooz.net:8010/gwc/ http://krill.shacknet.nu:20095/gwc secondary.udp-host-cache.com:9999,,1188924860750,,,en,0 cache.kicks-***.net:8000,,1188924860640,,,en,1 uhc2.limewire.com:20181,,1188924860687,,,en,1 kisama.ath.cx:8080,,1188924860656,,,en,1 uhc1.frostwire.com:9000,,1188924860875,,,en,1 uhc3.limewire.com:51180,,1188924860671,,,en,0 krill.shacknet.nu:20095,,1188924860765,,,en,0 etc etc etc so I tried downloading from gnutella.net which downloaded to her desktop but as a text file -- I tried several times from both but no good -- I fixed the problem by copying the gnutella.net file from my copy of LW on my computer on to a USB stick and downloaded it to my daughters laptop -- deleted her gnutella.net file and inserted mine and it Connected

![]() Glad you were able to find a way around the problem, but I can't do that unfortunately--I have no good copy of the gnutella.net file to work with. I need a way to download it as a binary file and have it stay a binary file. Anyone else? |

![]() try downloading a gnutela.net file now -- it seems to be working OK

![]() I do not have .net files associated with QuickTime; regardless, I don't understand how that could affect the way a file is downloaded--doesn't it just pertain to how a file is opened/read once it's been saved? Every time I have saved a gnutella.net file it ends up being listed as an MPEG-1 Video with a Quicktime logo showing on the icon. And I tried four or five different links, multiple times. In the end, I had to use a Windows machine to download a good copy and then transfer it to my machine (a Mac). But, about two months ago when I had difficulty connecting and tried this replacing gnutella.net option, I successfully downloaded the file and got Limewire up and running no problem. So I just don't get what's going on that it won't properly save the gnutella.net file as a binary file. |
