maccas, MiloCowCat

In Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- Try one fix at a time --- do them in
this order: Check your firewall, Delete/Replace gnutella.net File, Delete Limewire's Preference Folder -- if still not working go
back to the top and do the rest of the fixes. NOTE: [1] when you replace the gnutella.net file with a new one check the filesize --
The download size from mediafire is 25.37kb -- if smaller download another gnutella.net file. [2] The Preference Folder is another name for Limewire Folder.

if after all of this your problem remains click on (system details) fill in and post back here

Default still not working

OK i have vista home and am the administrator. I think i know what the problem is but know know how to fix it. I made sure it was on my allowed list for my windows firewall and then it said that i had Norton running a firewall and not windows.and i dont know how to get to nortons firewall... its not even suppose to be running but i have had all the software on my computer and none of it has changed. not sure why now limewire wont work. I also completely uninstalled and reinstalled limewire. I also deleted all the limewire folders from my computer and reinstalled that way. I just want it to work. and some of the explanations make no sense... im not a computer engineer so make it easier to read please....

Here's several threads that will help you reconfigure nortons
[1] My LW wont connect I've tried everything
[2] Configuring nortons internet security
[3] Lw nortons internet security 2007 - scroll down to post #3 shanah16

you must only have 1 firewall running otherwise it will cause conflicting problems -- leave windows vista firewall disabled. configure your nortons as instructed to give LW full access to your computer.

These ports are 6346 (by default) and the 'listening port' shown in the 'firewall config' menu in the limewire settings --- Open Limewire -- go to tools/ options/advanced/Firewall -- look in the "listen on port box" -- easy way to check if it is your router firewall is to disable your router and try and connect to LW -- Is comcast your ISP -- check this out. you will see comcast listed -- they could be the cause of your problems.
