![]() I would also like to mention that i have been having some problems with my router for the past while. (wireless not working properly, settings not being changed or saved) and limewire works on my other computer but not the one im on. i have solved this problem before by doing system restore which i do not want to do all over again. after the restore about 1 month later (now) the problem came back. |

First thing I'd try is deleting LW's preferences folder. That's often a fix for connection problems after updating ![]() Check out this thread for info about deleting the prefs folder (there's a link specific to Vista): If LW 5 Will Not Connect Otherwise you can try the other fixes in that thread. Have you tried connecting to your router via ethernet cable (wired) rather than wirelessly? I'm not even sure that your router supports UPnP... can't find any info. You may need to check the User Guide that came with the router. |

![]() OK! Soo i looked up the actiontech manual that you gave me the link to and I saw the part about the UPnP disabling and enabling, but my actual one doesn't have the button or section that says "UPnP" or anything that says universal plug and play! So im not sure whats up with that, I've looked it over rather thoroughly! Soo.. I'm totally ready for some advanced advice, I feel. I bought LW pro, the latest version so I want it to work, and I definetly want to figure it out since I paid for a year, I have some time to use it! So I'm ready! Step by step if possible! Email me! |

![]() We don't do email replies ![]() Looks like the UPnP options don't show in that router model with some firmware versions. Just 2 threads I found, you can Google for more info: https://forums.qwest.com/qwbb/board/...&thread.id=983 Re: Trying to enable UPnP on an Actiontec GT701-WG Router - PlayStation®3 Media - PlayStation.com Forums So assume that UPnP is already enabled in your router... did you change LW's listening port? Change listening port > click ok. Restart LW. Before you set up port forwarding, you'll first need to set up a static IP address. Check this link for your info: PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall Then the port forwarding instructions for your router are here: Port Forwarding Limewire on the Actiontec GT701-WG LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within router configuration must all be the same number. If you're still stuck after port forwarding, try one of those other apps & see whether you can connect. It's always best to try the free version of a program before paying for it ![]() |

![]() Man, it's things like this a really put me down, it feels like i will never solve my problem with LimeWire. i did everything as the site said and tried to connect and it still couldn't. i just don't under stand how my computer can't connect, while my other computer can connect without any problem. the thing is my other computer is really old and is SLOW. So it takes me a more than a hour to finish what i want to do. and i also don't understand how i had to restore my computer to original settings to get Lime wire to connect again... It connected for a good month than it went back to not connecting... I dont know if its something i am doing or what. ![]() Computer that can't connect is Vista 32x Administrator Computer that is slow and can connect is XP 32x Administrator ![]() |
