You'll need to configure windows firewall to allow limewire access to the internet. Directions in this link: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml.

Some of AOL's anti-spyware(Pest patrol) may detect limewire as spyware. You may need to make an exception for LW.

Your on dial-up, so you don't have much bandwidth to play with. Follow Grandpa's advice in this thread on how to best configure LW: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...-up#post175733

that number didnt work! and i bought limewire pro and it STILL doesnt work. this message comes up "LimeWire was unable to initalize and start. This is usually due to a firewall program blocking limewires acess to the internet or loopback connections on the local machine. Please allow limewire acess to the internet and restart limewire." And those links you guys gave me dont work because in the step 1 & 2 it says go into limewire and that is the problem i cant soo i duno the internal and external port numbers.. they rest i can do. Do you use a modem or router? If you do, what's the brand & model?
Where are you connecting from (home, school, student accommodation etc)?
Did you do the port 6346 test & did it work?
What's changed since LW used to work (new LW version, new hardware etc)?
Are you sharing a connection with other computers?
What kind of high speed connection do you have (cable, satellite etc)?
