Sorry to say but it sounds like you've been scammed

Due to legal action, the company behind LW hasn't been allowed to distribute the software (either free or Pro) for over a year. The only people selling LW these days are scammers. Sounds a bit sus to me that your downloads have failed ever since you were prompted to register...maybe a hacked version of LW??
Depending on how long ago you paid, you may still be able to have your money refunded. Contact your bank/credit card company & see whether they can help you.

If you like, there are other alternatives available. Just for example, LimeWire Pirate Edition or FrostWire 4 (very similar to LW). The links below have more info.
