Frostwire won't load in windows Vista

Hi I'm running windows vista 64 bit and have the latest version of Java installed (6 update 14) I have Frostwire version 4.18.0 I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both programs at least 20 times within the past 2 days and it won't load. The logo comes on the screen for a few seconds but then just disappears. I even tried uninstalling java and having frostwire install it for me but when I do that all it says is that frostwire could not launch and needs to be reinstalled the reinstallation still does nothing after that. Oh I have a fire wall but Frostwire is on the allowed list so can anyone help me?
Thank you in advance!

Right-click the installer & choose run as Administrator. Do same thing to FW shortcut after installing. If still problems, right-click FW & change compatibility mode to XP. :)

I did that to the short cut before so your saying it should work if I try it with the installer itself?

Okay that didn't work I don't see change compatibility mode as an option when I right click any other way to change the compatibility?

Right-click FW shortcut, choose Properties, select Compatibility tab.

If that does not help, delete the FW preferences: How to delete your FrostWire Preferences folder (click on link). (You need to set your View options to show Hidden Files & Folders, else you will not find the folder; the parent folder Application Data is a hidden folder.)

When I go to app data the only time I see a frostwire folder is when I go to app data then roaming I'm suddenly very confused sorry thanks for your hwlp!

Oops sorry yes that's it. I forgot about the difference with Vista having the Roaming folder. :o Make sure FrostWire is closed. Then delete the FrostWire preferences folder you find inside the Roaming folder. It's equivalent to the LimeWire location for Vista users: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html

I deleted the whole folder still a no go I'm starting to get really flustered i even downloaded limewire even though i prefer FW and even that seems to have the same problem

The above fixes usually fix that type of problem.
Let's do a complete clean installation: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html however of course choose the FrostWire installer instead. FrostWire.com - Official Website And again, remove prefs folder first. Make sure no FW files are on the computer (except installer.) Re-installing Java might do the trick. And then, sometimes one version of Java works better for some rather than other versions.

originally I had solved the problem by doing a system restore but I had to do another system restore because of my antivirus software and now FW doesn't work again it's the same problem all over again what frustrates me is that frost worked perfect the week I got it which was the week of June 16. Now my anti virus software is back up to date which it was not able to do during the restore which let frostwire work. I though maybe it was because of my CA internet Security suite but even when I disabled everything Frost still didn't work. Do you have any other ideas of what to do? I'm not having any problems with any other programs so I don't think it's java,
