Moderators

There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)
Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum.
Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.
Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.
Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.
Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration.

The Rules

1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures.

3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.

4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks.

5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem.

7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required.

8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning.

9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online.

10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents.

11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection.

12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban.

13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts.

14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam.

15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.

Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community.

Exclamation LimeKill 1.00

Hello,

I know LimeWire software is based on improving LimeWire itself, but for the administrators who don't want LimeWire run on there PC's - i've designed a program with advance injection methods to stop LimeWire from working. This can always be reversed, and of course comes in GUI so you can easily enable/disable LimeWire from working.

Unlike other programs that stop filenames (or different methods) from launching, the LimeKill program is fully designed to stop LimeWire (and only LimeWire) from the beginning up.. it injects 5 core layers of advance routines to stop LimeWire from working.

What if they somehow pass 1 core layer?
Simple. The other 4 will kick in, and using fCore - my program will make sure 5 core's are replenished. Briefly, LimeKill's methods are so powerful - crackers will take a distance just to get LimeWire working.

It is recommended LimeKill is run before LimeWire, but i have designed it so a core layer stops LimeWire from searching At All. This means even if you bypass 1 core and the LimeWire GUI is up.. the search function (when pressed) will automatically close LimeWire, making LimeWire useless.

You may use this program for personal use, or for whatever reasons you need it (as long as my copyright stays within the program, and that the program isn't edited unless i give you permission)

Please read the readme.txt before using LimeKill 1.00, simply because i may have missed a few things..

Are there any downsides to LimeKill?
Yes. LimeKill is a program run on the Windows platform in .exe form.. meaning anyone who can reach the Task Manager can close this application. Please message me if you're interested in editing LimeKill to make it work better, because it lacks some things like security. But its method of design is so great, LimeKillers will love this new idea.

Lastly the freeware program itself. It is quite small (102kb), and in .zip format includes the LimeKill and readme. Please comment on this program, and tell me what i can do to improve it! Enjoy!

TMonster (C) 2005.

You can share it with LimeWire and post a magnet-link here.

Good idea! But i'm not always on LimeWire so i can't always share it with more people who want to come and download my program. In this case i've bothered to sign up on geocities for free and use there web hosting to host LimeKill

ENJOY!

for the record, there was a discussion a while back and the mods decided not to allow public postings of magnet links.

To get a magnet to someone, just use a PM.

re the limekill--sounds like a powerful tool that hackers would love. Frankly, I wouldn't trust it if I had a Windows machine.

Out of curiousity, does it also kill Bearshare, Phex, gnoozle, etomi, Shareaza, and all the other gnutella programs that are widely used?

Oh really, magnets are forbidden? But HTTP links are allowed? And you don't even care about the content? You know I'm a little disgusted by such an attitude. I mean what the hell is up with these people? Is this China or what? Is this a Gnutella forum? Do you honestly believe in human rights and freedom of speech? I don't think so, not at all.

People like these "mods" are worse than the RIAA, the MPAA, the US and the Chinese government together. Those people are at least doing stuff for fun and profit. In contrast, these "mods" are nothing but an example of anticipatory obedience. They are a blatant shame for Gnutella and mankind as a whole.

you talking to me?

Anyway, re the magnets, the mods do check http links, but magnet links are much more difficult to check without downloading the file. After I thought about it, it made sense. And the alternative is easy too.

As far as forum rules . . . overzealous mods get a rough time from the others, so petty tyrants don't last long, and since they are all volunteers, the forum moderation has evolved nicely over the last six years.

No need to get excited about the post freedoms. The place is pretty . . . . umm . . . "moderate"

oh--I'm a bit of a mod, but I tried to resist

cheers

hahaha ... magnet links identify the specific person offering the downld. And this rule has always been with the gnutella forums.

An aussie offering a lime killer ... shame ..shame ... shame for poor old p2p! Shall I offer a magnet link to access your personal address? I don't think you'd like that hey? Exactly, just the same as posting personal email addresses on the forum, etc. (forum rules) That's how magnet links are considered. I was personally open about this topic however ... until Stief made a valid point. Why target LW when there's a very large no. of gnutella clients out there ... even more than's catered for on this forum.

Unlike the Chinese gov or mpia or riaa, us on the forum don't get paid, we're volunteers, & we put in much more time into what we do than the previous mentioned!!! (Where's our overtime pay!!! lol )

(Oh I didn't see Stief's last post before I posted!)

Wahh sorry sorry, the reason i've targeted LimeWire because its darn popular and widely used at my school. That tells you no other p2p client is as-good or as popular.. well that's the only client my school uses to leach bandwidth from the school network.

Perhaps i should've posted in a LimeWire forum? But i thought this forum would be for the software.. so i decided to post it in here.. knowing someone would move the thread if it was posted incorrectly.

The reason for this program is to stop kids trying to leeach your bandwidth on the network (like at school's etc.) nothing more.. i don't want this to happen to LimeWire (because its my favourite program) but for people who have those little smart rats bypassing firewalls to allow LimeWire just purely sux, so this is the program for you..

Please i didn't want to offend anyone in anyway or LimeWire itself.. it's an awesome program, use this to stop those annoying kids you don't like from stealing your broadband limit. I'm sorry for any inconviences, i don't want trouble. If you like i'll remove this whole topic (if possible) and the links itself. Thankyou.

I hate to break this to ya, but if a "damn kid" is smart enough to bypass a network firewall, don't you think hes smart enough to hit ctrl-alt-del, click on limekill.exe, and click stop?

Just my 2c.
