WELL WELL WELL VALUS

It appears that if you would have taken my advice a few post back you could have solved your problem much sooner. Thanks for letting us know it was a bad Java install. And by the way Java 6 works fine with LimeWire on Vista if it installs properly. I run Java 6 on all of my computers.

Well your assumptions of LimeWire having problems with Vista you are wrong. The only problem I have ever had with LimeWire on Vista was when Beta1 came out I had to install Java 6. And I have been running Vista and LimeWire since the first release of Vista Betas. (Every version of LimeWire on both 32bit and 64bit version of Vista) I am currently running (4.13.4 beta)

Some where along the line there is a driver issue in your set up or Java is not installed properly. (Most Common) but from your previous post I assume you know what you are doing and have installed it properly.

So my advice would be if you know Java is installed properly start uninstalling software and hardware drivers until you find the problem.

LimeWire works with no problems on 5 different computers running Vista in my house and on allot of computers throughout the world running Vista.

umm did you even read my post????

The installs of Java are fine, Every other program works the only program that doens't work is Limewire which for some reason will only work with the Java 5.03 which Limewire itself installs.

Now the reasoning i've been getting from you guys if it works with everything else then its that one thing.

And according to that reasoning then it would be Limewire again.

and let me explain again since somehow you completly did not get my post b4.

if i go to JAVA's website and Download Any Version from their site, whether it's online/offline installation Limewire does not work.

How ever when i Install Limewire and let Limewire install it's Version of Java, Limewire works.(this would suggested a modified Java or Outdated Version of Java that Java does not have[or more so they updated they're version of 5.03] menaing thats why it works)

Now also if i was to install Java 6 from JAVA, and install Limewire, It will not work, But on 2 of my systems if i were to install bitcomet then limewire will work, which suggest that there is some modified file that both programs use but Bitcomet updates that allows the program to function Properly.

Now i'm my Machine when i try this, i'm able to get past the splash screen, and then the Setup menu appears, asking me about where i want the save file directory and what Bandwidth speed i have, once i finish setting this up then the program crash's again.

Now with bit comet not installed i never got the Prefernce thing to come up, limewire woiuld crash before that would ever come up.

Now in all likely hood the reaosn why theres not alot of people having this problem is due in part to them not having Java 6 installed and that Limewire install it's Version which then would install the 5.03 and thus no problem like this.

Also i have not tried updating my version of Java to JAVA 6 now to see if Limewire will continue to work.

If i do Upgrade to Limewire 6 and it stops working again then Limewire is not compatible with Java 6, OR..... there is a Posibilty that there is a conflict with yoru software and some other program with JAVA 6.

I'll update Java 6 now and see what happens.

Figures Updating to Java 6, makes Limewire stop working again weaksauce.

So since you say Limewire works fine with Java 6 then there is a Conflict with a Program most likely in Java 6.

Now conisdering If every other program works fine with Each other in Java 6 and Limewire is the only one having an issue among these program wouldn't that fall into compatibility issue???

Edit,

just un-installed Java 6 and bam works fine again, well there you have it.

I guess the problem lies in a conflict on your machines between LimeWire and some other software/Hardware you are running. As you can see in the image attached below it works fine on my machine/machines.

Default The Tube has returned. with useful (so i think) info.

i havent posted on here for atleast a year or 2 now...i kinda forgot about this place for some reason...anyway i think i know the true cause of this problem as iv been having the same issues...

1 word.. ALCOHOL... alcohol is the root of this problem... alcohol 120% that is..it has something to do with the virtual drives and the drivers that emulate them screwing with java...it also causes azureus to crash intermittently too, wich is also a java app... if you uninstall alcohol120% it should all work fine...

i dont know how to fix the problem but im allmost positive that thats the cause of it and not java or limewire themselfs.

I registered only for this purpose. I got the exact same error, on XP on 2 systems, with SATA in one and IDE in another, intel cpus.

Both LimeWire and FrostWire crashed right after the loading screen. Literally after reading this, I tried running it, it failed, I renamed AxShlex.dll, re-ran it and it worked. That is precisely what it is, though I have NO idea why the hell that would do it, especially since the .dll wasn't even in use at the time. Anyway, thanks for finding the fix You've caused me much relief, this was seriously getting on my nerves. Now let's hope Alcohol 120% still runs, though Daemon Tools will suffice for now if it doesn't.

Default OMFG it works...

i renamed AxShlex.dll located in the alcohol program folder...and now limewire starts and runs fine...

but now "mount image" is gone from the context menu on my virtual drive...but alcohol itself still seems to start and run OK, havent tryed to burn anything with this DLL missing yet..

as soon as i name the file back to normal...i can mount/unmount ISOs again...but limewire phucks up immediately after starting again...

IDK WTF is going on but renaming this file (or maybe just moving it will work the same way) is easer than uninstalling alcohol every time i want to download something...

Agreed, make a batch file to replace the shortcut to LimeWire that renames it then one to name it back and we'll be at 90% smoothness of having it work as it should
