Creating of the temporary folder "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\avgrssvc.exe" failed. The system cannot find the file specified. No such file or directory I have also had problems in installing other Anti-Virus software like Kaspersky 6.0 and the error messages I get when the installation fails are always to do with not being able to create file or directory or verify access??? I have deleted a lot of stuff from the Registry ran different Reg cleaners cleaned the Hard Disk for temp and rubbish files and tried again and again but to no avail. It's now driving me crazy, can someone please help? Tell mewhat I need to do? I don't have any anti-virus program on my machine and that's not good. ![]() Yes I had AVG installed before and you're right, perhaps remnants of the previous installation remain. But how do I get rid of them? Actually I also believe that these remnants are preventing ANY anti-virus program from installing - they are clashing with any a/v I try to install. Believe me I've tried many. Another problem is that I cannot post a thread on the AVG forum as one has to be a member and to become one you need to activate membership via an installed AVG anti-virus, which I cannot. God help me........... ![]() |

![]() Well Kez I'm not God but I will try to help. First thing you need to check if there are any AV entries in your Add/Remove facility within Control Panel (I am guessing that you are an XP user). If they are then uninstall them. Next, check your C:\ drive for left over AV app folders/directories. Again, if there are then delete them. I would also suggest that you clean up your HD with Norton Windoctor, if you have it, clean out your temp folders and finally defrag your HD. Reboot your PC. Download AVG Anti-Virus installation file (do not try to install over the web) to a newly created folder. Disable any protective app that monitors installations. Install AVG AV from the AV exe file on your HD. Let us know how you get on. UK Bob |

![]() Hi Bob ![]() I then downloaded a fresh copy of AVG from the website into a newly created folder in my program files called avg. Then I double clicked on the icon in the avg folder and installation began. But again it failed after at the end, same message. I then even tried to find the "avgamsvr.exe" file by searching all folders but the search came back with no results. Hence it appears it's not in the HD. So what's the problem???????? Please advise further........ ![]() Many thanks Kez |

![]() Kas After cleaning your HD and making sure that there are no remnants of AVG's AV remaining and you still can't perform a fresh install of your chosen AV then, I believe, there is not much more you can do. As far as I can see, from what you have said so far, you only have two choices: 1) Do a complete reformat of your HD and reinstall your applications one by one. This will insure that whatever hidden problem is on your HD will be deleted by the reformating. 2) Choose another AV to install, it is likely that whatever is preventing AVG's AV from being installed is unlikely to target another AV as well. Of the two choices installing another free AV is the easier. Good Luck UK Bob |
