I do have a suspicion with the new version deleting the old preferences folder is the way to go. However, be sure to make a backup of the Downloads file (downloads.dat) which is found within the preferences folder. This contains your previous incomplete downloads history. Take care how you handle & return this file, important to follow the instructions to the word.
