I'll help you the best I can but I'll need you to post some information about your Mac if you feel comfortable enough with that for me to be able to help you to the best of my abilities.

Top left of your screen on your mac you should see a little apple, click on this. then click about this Mac It should pop up with a box in that will be your the model... ie Mac OS x 10.5. whatever update you happen to have if its an older Mac its probably not going to be those numbers but that will allow me to see the newest version of java you capable of installing on that computer and then the newest version of LW you can install I had to do the same for a family member so I can link you the site if you can tell me the software your running
