For some reason my iTunes as resumed function. Perhaps I did not do a full power-down after repairing permissions, but merely restarted.

I will consider the LW beta, and if things continue smoothly from here I fully plan to buy PRO.

Thanks again for the pleasantly surprising help from both of you.
