Hi everyone, looks like Acquisition and Limewire are out, so I will try File girls suggestion of Frostwire, any positives or negatives here? any comments would be greatly welcome.

Thanks Lord of the Rings...

Have you try this one called Acquisition Lite or as it's name is now Acqlite and it's free opensource software for Mac... Here is the link to it: http://acqlite.sourceforge.net/ Only thing i don't like about FrostWire is it comes bundled with extra stuff, and it set your home page to ask dot com with out ask your permission to do so!

Ask.com is so incredibly FAIL!! I typed Google into it on one PC and it actually had a text pop up saying the Ask.com was a good search engine as well, so why not use it? :lmao:

I have tried a few versions of Acquisition Lite in years past. Never tried the Pro version.

If people wanna use Adware bundel Ask fine for me...I don't so i have cleaned out the FrostWire version i use and no bundled stuff is in it...And a another thing is the devs of FrostWire follows the same mistake as LimeWire with Autoupdate for they last version 4.21.1! I never ever gona update from 4.20.9 to 4.21.1...

Hi File Girl,
Many thanks for ACQ lite, but it appears to have the same problem as Limewire / Acqusition....nothing downloads!! is it me or is anyone having these problems? As mentioned Limewire is out of action so anything that is Limewire based is most likely out of action as well. Any other programmes out there that are not? Any assistance would be most welcome.

My LW works fine, haven't you tried it yet? LW 5.5.10 for me works like a charm in Windows. :) Posts all over the LW forum sections about using LW 5.5.10 or earlier & how to set them up. ;)

Using LW 5.5.9 Pro on MacOSX 10.6, connected into turbo charged within 20 seconds, downloaded audio file in 80 seconds less than one minute ago just to verify. ;) Sounded great in iTunes too. :)

And File_Girl71 responds with this ... * NOTE: to connect with any LW program, you will need to either run File_Girl71's LimeWireOSX-FiX. Unzip it, run the program (LW must be closed when you run this program.) Need to enter your admin password to begin the process. This will allow you to connect whether using LW 5 or LW 4 :) OR see Birdy's http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html. (Many thank yous to File_Girl71 for her program fix to help the LW community!)

This will probably also work for ACQ lite but no guarantees since FG71's fix is specifically designed for LW. ;)

It will not work on Acq or Acqlite yet.....But i could make one that will work on Acq or Acqlite most likely!
I know the reason Acq and now Acqlite does not connect, i'ts because it use LimeWire's WebCache...And LimeWire's WebCache is now shutdown...My LimeWire Fix tell LimeWire where to find the Ultrapeers to connect too! FrostWire did work independent of LimeWire and use there own WebCache and still working when LimeWire was shutdown! Acq and Acqlite devs must now consider use of FrostWires WebCache instead of LimeWires, but i consider to make connection fix for Acq and Acqlite users!
