Default Error when installing LW 2.5

I just installed LW 2.5 on my Mac (OS 9.1 / G4 / 384 MB RAM) It said installation was successful, but with errors. In the installation log I found:

Custom Action: com.limegroup.install.SettingsTranslator
Status: ERROR
Additional Notes: ERROR - class com.limegroup.install.SettingsTranslator.install() Unexpected Fatal Error:

Will this be a problem when using the program? Should I re-install my old 2.4 version?

Thanks.

I got the same error, but since Limewire never preserved the settings from one version to the other (otherwise Mr. !_! would get lonesome, I fail to see the point of an error message.

Thanks for the reply, Freiluft, though I didn't quite understand it.

I went ahead and reinstalled my 2.4 version as the 2.5 was taking an extremely long time loading my shared files and kept freezing (even more than the old version). I gave up. Maybe it had something to do with the error message? I think I'll wait for a couple of more revisions. Thanks.

Oh, you haven't met Mr. !_! before? Somehow, this porno site has managed a way to slither in strange search hits like !_! or !!_!!, especially when a regular search would yield no hits at all. Try a search for something totally obscure and this will show up.

Each month, I ban his IP, so when I download and install a new LW, I have to enter the number again. It has become a sort of tradition.

Oh yah, I've seen "!" and "!_!" and even "!_!_!" I just enter them in my keyword filter and they haven't come up. And yes, I re-enter them with each version.

Now, about that error message: Do you (or anyone) know what it means? I wasn't sure if it had to do with the slooowwww-ness of the new version...

Unhappy Can't Connect

I was hoping you guys were on to something.

I have gotten the exact same error message and I am unable to connect. All other features seem workable but I can get the green light on for about one second then it goes back to red. I'm on a G4 running MacOs9.

Any body got a real fix? starrynight@attbi.com

Check in the "Connections" Forum. There is some useful tidbits, but you have to do a little searching. I can't find the exact threads, but what worked for me was, in the connections window (at the bottom), manually enter a host. Try:

router4.limewire.com
connect3.bearshare.net

I found that I had more stable connections with the router4.limewire.com

Good luck.

Unhappy

I'm getting the same error message as you. Also when I launch Limewire, it takes forever to load my shared files.

It would seem that it's a problem with the installer.

Default problems with 2.5.5

I still can't get 2.5.5 to come up after installation.
There is nothing in my download log about any errors.
It is like I am downloading the old version.

can anyone help????

This may help

Get rid of the files previously installed (limewire installer included)

then follow the 3 tips listed in the message I left in another thread , where i solved a couple problems I had during installation

Good luck!
