Default Installation Problems Solved!!!

REPLY ANSWERS PROBLEMS DESCRIBED HERE

FAQs No Help!
Downloaded LimeWireMac.bin (11.8MB) with the MRJ installer.
Receiving following messages/errors during installation process:

1) This application Will Run Using your current version of Mac OS Runtime for Java. However, a newer version of MRJ is included in this installer. It is recommended that you install it. Do you want to install the newer version of MRJ? <YES> <NO>

I click <YES>
(clicking on <NO> the installer reports ERROR "While trying to start the next step of the installer, an error occurred. Could not find fils 'install anywhere installer' please contact your Software vendor")

2) Soon after clicking yes the the progress bar of the installer advances and starts notify the following messages:

a) InstallAnywhere is preparing to install...This may take a few moments. Extracting the MRJ installer
b) InstallAnywhere is preparing to install...This may take a few moments. Unstuffing the MRJ installer
c) InstallAnywhere is preparing to install...This may take a few moments. Waiting for Stuffit Expander
d) InstallAnywhere is preparing to install...This may take a few moments. Running the MRJ installer

Between c) and d) Stuffit displays many these warnings:
"The integrity of the data fork of <filename> could not be verified. Use this file with caution."

Where <filename> are the files listed below:
T1.gif through T10.gif, loading-msg.gif, again T1.gif and T2.gif, mandrill.jpg, 5perc_s.gif, Earthimage360.gif, macmade.gif, once again Earthimage360.gif, SunSphereC16.gif, SunSphereC32.gif, SunSphereMRJ.jar, JDKClasses.zip, MRJClasses.zip

After that, InstallAnywhere DialogBox shows message d) and in the same moment in front of it pops up another warning:

"Mac OS Runtime for Java will now be installed and your system will be restarted. then this installer will run again and will finish intalling your new software. If you do not need to restart your Mac, re-run this installer to complete the installation." <OK> (and that's the only button available).

Pressing OK Error is displayed: "An unknown Error occurred. Error unknown." <Quit Installer>.

tried to increase installer memeory to 64MB, restart, re-run installer: no effect.

The Trash shows the following files/folders after the installation attempt:
InstallAnywhere SEA.log
IA JavaInstaller (delete) 33554
IA MRJInstaller (delete) 214748

Can't post installer log (posting limited to 2500 chars.)

Attempts to re-install fail...Suggestions?
Thank you.

Lightbulb Problem Solved!!!

For Anyone Experiencing the same weird problem. Here are some tips!

I had connected to my Mac an External Firewire Drive (Windows formatted). I went reading through the installer log that was in the trashcan after attempting the installation and I discovered that at its end, the installer was reporting that was unable to find some files...why? Because for some very odd reason was seaching on the Firewire drive. Of course the dumb installer couldn't find it, there's nothing to be found on that drive!!!
I can really imagine a clear reason why the installer was attempting to access such drive. In the fist place I did not Download the installer there, nor I used the attached drive to save the unstuffed installer and in second place that drive is not even Mac formatted (HSF+), but is windows formatted (FAT32), so why the hell te installer was pointing at it in search of files that remains an obscure event to me...I use the removable drive only to archive cross platforms files like Quicktime movies and images

Concluding, I can give you the following advice coming from my direct experince:

#1
Before attempting the installation of any Limewire clients, be sure to disconnect any attached drives (firewire or Usb), especially if it is a Fat32 formatted drive. That might help avoid the installer misbehaviour described above. It definitely worked in my case.
#2
Download and install the MRJ 2.2.5 (about 4.1MB) or latest version from the Apple site

#3
Then Download the 4.9MB LimeWire Mac no VM from:
Limewire.com other downloads page
That's the same 2.5 version, but without the embedded MRJ installer

This method should smoothen the installation process and also shorten your download time, since in such way you would be transferring only 9MB (4.1MB+4.9MB as mentioned above) against the 11.8MB of the full Limewire 2.5 installer

Good luck!
