Default 1000 & 1 Installation prob

Hello people,

Well as many users already noticed there is this installation problem where files get trashed and nothing else happens. This forum is full of suggestion what people should do in this case
1. increase memory - does not work for me
2. redownload - did that 150 times least
3. update stuffit expander - well did that too does not work
4. delete limewire files....
and more.Non of them work.

Now, the story of limewire on my Mac OS 9.2.2. In the beginning I downloaded version 2.9(8) i am not quite sure which was it and then instead of uninstalling i have trashed it. After this any limewire install that I am trying to use on my mac does not work - gets trashed.

Now can it be that i need to uninstall old limewire, if so where from can I get old limewire installation files, let's say of 2.9, etc. And if thats not a problem please tech staff of limewire do something. There are hundreds of people that are wasting there time for something that does not work.

Please help

With best regards,
Limewire pro 3.4.4

Hi domast

Did you search for any invisible LW prefs (Sherlock has that option). I recall some of the old LW's might have used some.

I assume too you are using the right java (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75097) and gave the Apple Applet runner 60 megs or so of memory too.

Default 1000 & 1 unsolved problems

I am an iMac user with 9.0 having the same problems named above, installation sucessful, but no launching, unpacked files in the trash box a.s.o.

Reading all the posts with similar problems and no adequate solution being offered by anyone, it doesn`t make any sense to me downloading the Limewire Pro Version to expect the same problems!?

That`s a pity!

Lony

Lots of adequate solutions have been given. You'll not get an adequate solution until you can find the conflict with your setup. I booted into 9 and tried the installer a few days ago--all is good. There might be 10,000 OS 8 and 9 users. So why are a few others having problems?

For that, more specific info would help. As you know, LW uses Java and the Apple Applet Runner, so the problems could be there. Which versions are you using. OS 9 uses extensions which can cause all sorts of problems. Have you tried turning off the non-OS ones? LW and Java need huge amounts of memory (by OS 9 standards) and processor power, so the problem can be there. Did you give LW and the Applet Runner 60 megs or more, and what machine are you using? LW connects to the internet more intensely than any other OS 9 app, so the problems can be there. How do you connect? Old/hidden prefs can cause problems. Did you find the old stuff to delete?

Which one of the many installers did you use?

It takes a long time to list all the possibilities, and most posters are volunteers. If you want help, provide more details about your set-up. Or pay for Pro support and hope you get an answer.
