..the ookla speed test thingy, run several times

..variable d/l, from 194kbps to 380 kbps, mean 280ish

..variable u/l 240 to 305kbps, mean 260ish

..which follows the ups and downs i keep getting when d/ling, 0-40, now how do i get a nice steady d/l, cos it's giving me mal de mer

..and why's the max u/l i've seen only 8, in theory it should be better than 20, and it does the up and down too

..is my location the problem, wi-fi on the edge of the world, very southern Mindanao, i've been considering upping bandwidth (and therefor cost) but only if i can get some sort of steady rate with existing machinery

1. OS version? (Eg: Windows 98) ...xp pro
2. What firewalls you have? ..xp standard
3. How much ram? ..128
4. Hard Disk space available? 10GB
5. Connection type? (Eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ..wifi
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? ..?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? ..home
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version...LW pro,
9. Who is your ISP provider? ( AOL/MSN/Comcast/Tiscal)..Smart
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.no
11. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?yup fine
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

* Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml..yes

12. Do This test, Is the result True/False?
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...757#post103757 Is the result True/False..true

13. Do a speed test post the results here...45/25, 25/42 etc via SF

I don't have a problem downloading but it seems everyone who tries to upload a file from me it ALWAYS get interrupted before completed... would this be a problem with my sytem settings or just a conincidence?

birdy July 14th, 2006 11:40 PM

Use the search to look for transfer interrupted:)

hsmith9267 July 14th, 2006 11:45 PM

I know how to find the interrupted transfer but it seems that no one is able to upload a complete file from me - they all get interrupted - is there a setting I should change somewhere? I have cable internet so it isn't that my connection gets interrupted...

You could try limiting your upload slots according to your speed as Grandpa suggests here
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...94&postcount=2

It's possible that it's ISP related, some people have had trouble with their ISP disrupting uploads.
Within LW tools > options > bug reports > view example. Scroll down to 'recieved incoming this session'... is it true or false? False indicates a problem with people being able to upload (usually a firewall).

I followed all the steps and configured everything perfect, and it was working fine all day. Until now...when all of a sudden it started doing the drop to 0 and slowing everything down big time. I've restored the default options and reconfigured it twice now, and it's still doing the same thing. If this many people are having a problem it has to be something wrong with Limewire, I'm using 4.10.9 pro version, and I've never had a problem until today when it just started doing it all of a sudden this morning.

I'm about to scrap limewire all together because everytime I pause it reduces my download percentage for some reason. I was downloading a 700mb file and was at 75% and I hit pause and it drops to 9% all of a sudden. I had the same problem earlier in the day and thought it was jsut 4.12 pro, but apparently it's not.

Maybe it's just the file I don't know, I did everything like the first post said, and it was working pretty much all day. I have no idea why it's not working now...

Although I use a DSL modem connection for LW, I notice that I can download songs much quicker on connection speeds of T1 or T3 or higher. Does this mean I should adjust my speed accordingly? I'm currently using LW Basic 4.12.3.

wondering why July 22nd, 2006 02:42 PM

No leave it selected at DSL....;)
