Thanks for answering. I still have the problem with slow downloading of audio files and video is somewhat faster but still slow. Here is the into that Gramdpa asked for. I have a HP Media Center PC. I'm running XP Home with Media Center. My firewall and antivirus is Synmantec 8. I have 1 gig of ram and 170 gig free on my hard drive. I'm connected to cable and my modem is a Terayon Communication System TJ 716X. My local area connection is Realtek RLT8139/810x Family. I'm connected at home using Limewire 4.10.9 Pro and have Java 1.5.0_06. My isp is kuhncom.net and I'm not sharing this connection. I got back your test worked, my connection was true. The speed test had 1649 kbps download and 335 kbps upload. Download transfer rate was 206.1 KB/sec and upload transfer rate was 41.9 KB/sec. |
pa computer You have said your speeds are slow but you haven't said what speed you are downloading at. How many KB/s are you downloading at ? How many host do you usually connect to when you are downloading 5,10 ? |
MR.VTEC You should set your speed to cable. Download Unlimited, Upload 25KB/s and yes a pirated copy of Pro could be affecting you Download capabilities. It may be hacked could contain spyware and or a virus. Unfortunately you never now what you are going to get with hacked software. Actually it is not a smart thing to do. But to each his own. |
what tends to happen with me is that it is working fine and it is going at 60 kb/s and then i go away for an hour and return to see it going at 10 kb/s  but when i close limewire down and then restart it again it goes back to going at 60 kb/s. is there something wrong or is it just meant ot be like that? can u tell me what " show incoming searches" is?, is it all of the people that are searching the files you have downloaded? |
what can i expect? i used the speed test. download : 950~Kbps upload : 92~Kbps I am currently getting about 120KB when i download, now this doesn't change that much from 1-5 simultaneous downloads, after that it slows down, i thought this was due to the drive head speed limitations, am i right? Also, being my first ever post, i'd like to ask a long nagging question, and the one to which i even joined this forum for after searching to no avail.... Does Sharing actually help download speeds? or even connections? the only down point i can fathom, is getting blocked by more zealous users. I need some scientific help to help me choose?!:D ! |
Your Max Download speed is 118KB/s which is what you are getting. You should set your Download speed at unlimited and upload speed to 9KB/s And it is not your head speed that is slowing you down it is your connection. You are overloading it. LimeWire has to be able to communicate with the host you are downloading from. If you are maxing out your connection it can not communicate with them. Does sharing actually help Download speeds. Think of it this way if no one was sharing you wouldn't have anyone to Leach off of. |
Hi, I would like to know if anyone can help, I have just changed computers and want to re-install lime wire, how do you do this? It seems the only option is to pay again? |
If it has been more than 6 months since you bought LimeWire Pro and if you did not save the installer to your hard drive, then you will have to pay again if you want Pro. But BASIC is free and you can get it at the link below. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml |
