I purchases a lifetime membership in AllCoolMusic a while ago. Limewire came with it as a download. They sais Limewire was free. The fee was for their own efforts to develop the network.

Guess what? I got screwed as well...I'm new to this downloading stuff and I researched the best downloading sites via yahoo search after messing with Kazaa (hated it!). This review site came up with all these "free" sites...the site that was rated the best was ****MP3LIVEMUSIC.COM****, I was very confused when after I paid for it, it directed me to LimeWire Basic after paying for what I thought was:

Billing information
Membership type:Lifetime Full & Unlimited Access with 25% OFF! for a total of 22.46 $ USD
Pro Version Upgrade - Movie Codec Pack for a total of 14.95 $ USD
NetSpyProtector Option - Protect yourself from malware for a total of 9.88 $ USD

Grand total: 47.29 $ USD

The charge will appear on your credit card as P2PSupport.Net

I am disputing with my credit card company right now b/c I cannot get anyone to answer me in tech support because of my work hours - they are closed by the time I get off...

I told my cc company that I did not authorize the purchase (truly I did not!), can I do that???

I too searched for free music on the Internet. Eventually I got to AllCoolMusic. They offered a lifetime membership for $34.95 and a two year plan for $.99 per month. The downloads would be free (and they have been). I chose the two year plan. Soon a charge showed up on my CC account for $24.95. I asked them about this. After an exchange of emails they converted my account to a lifetime account for no extra charge. I got a warm feeling.

Best of luck with your CC issuer.

I have a similar experience with mp3downloading.com who I have taken up with my credit card company. I have been asked for:
Transaction Date; Name of Company; Transaction Amount and Disputed Amount; How I have tried to resolve the dispute. The credit card company have said that the amount disputed will not be paid until the matter is resolved. Meanwhile you would be advised to allow payment of the amount to the CC company so as not to incur penalties. I will post on this forum what happens. Keep watching, I do not give up easily. :)

I would like to ask, you have now got a lifetime membership, to what exactly?

So, this scam site (AllCoolMusic) decided to rip you off for $24.95 instead of $34.95 with an additional 99c per month and you are happy?

Alfred, let me explain the facts of life.

a) Your lifetime membership is to NOTHING because the so-called club you have bought into does not exist.

b) LW Basic is free and LW Pro cost $18.88, for that you get 6 months worth of updates/upgardes, and is available from here:

http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

c) Get on to your credit company, tell them you have been conned, and get your money back.

d) The P2P network consist of thousands of PC users like you and me from around the world, running LW, LWPro or some other P2P software on their PCs, this is what enables you to connect to and download from them and, likewise, them from you.

e) Because the P2P network consist of thousands of individually owned PCs no one has the right to or can sell you access to this network, access is freely available.

f) No one, no company or organisation can promise or guarantee that you will be able to download anything from the P2P network, PC users/owners (only) decide what they will put on and make available to share from their PCs.

There are probably another dozen of so points I could make but I think you now have the gist of it.

Alfred, do not let the scammers get away with selling you nothing, try and get your money back.

Well, I have ALMOST been scammed!

I guess that I have to thank you and my suspicious nature that this has not indeed happened.

I wanted to download some tv shows legally. I searched the net and came across some sites. They all offered all these fabulous stuff... But, it did seem too good to be true.

I tried to find what the others say about them. I found a few reviews that sung praises (quess they were scam too). However, I just wasn't comfortable with, for example, not even being able to see faq without signing in (and giving credit card number!!!). And I kept looking for some more information until I found this forum.

So, THANK YOU for sparing me a great deal of frustration and money!

What was the name of the site that asked you to be 'registered' with before you could look at the FAQ's. This information is crucial so as to help others of those who have been 'scammed' so they can give the info to their Credit Card company.

I for one do not recall seeing the site MP3-Downloading.com until I have given my CC details to get 'free downloads' Obviously cookies have been aplied here so that you can't see the site until details have been given.

freemovienow.com

BTW, is there a way to legally download tv shows? LimeWire is great about music, but nobody seems to have tv shows I want :(
