 I'm no expert but you only need to run pg while your using LW, otherwise you can shut it down. The pg site recommends that you block http and allow exceptions for trusted sites. But that can be a pita. I usually block http and I have allowed exceptions for the couple sites I visit most, but if I'm surfing the net I allow http to make things easier.
