I Tunes vs. Windows Media Player

I have Limewire 5.2.1 along with I Tunes and Windows Media Player. My Limewire downloads go to I Tunes and I can not copy them to a CD or an I Pod.
I would rather all downloads go to Windows Media Player so I could put songs on an I Pod or CD.
I am new at this and not tech savvy.
