Wrong language setting perhaps. Go to where the Tools menu would normally be, & Options, if you recall the position of them. Miscellaneous tab is where the language can be changed. English is listed as first option in drop down menu. :)

I believe LW installer normally brings up the language settings the Java has been using. Might I suggest you try re-installing LW. No uninstallation necessary. Use this installer: http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe and don't flip through the options of installer too quickly. It should have a question about which language to be installed.

If that does not work, try this technique: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html which means also deleting the LW preferences. There might be an issue with your Java that is affecting LW. (not uncommon for Java to give LW problems!)

hello. i have windows vista home basic operating system & i went to the official limewire site to download the application. the download went through however the installation will not. everytime i attempt to install it a safe mode screen comes up and states that there is "not enough memory to fit it". i've never had this happen before - been using limewire for several years on different pc models & this pc is fairly new so i can't imagine why it wouldn't have the capacity to hold limewire.

The Hard (C) drive holds 65GB with 45GB of free space left; there's also a recovery drive which holds 10GB with 6GB of free space left. Currently the RAM is 502 MB

now all of this is mumbo jumbo to me - i just want to know how i can resolve this issue. please help me!

Thanks,
Jscota

Hi,

I am really disappointed. Limewire forced me to download the new version. I tried on my Windows Vista computer and it repeatedly said installation failed. So, I came here, followed advice. Got rid of Java, re downloaded, re downloaded Limewire, used clean up software, got rid of all Limewire folders etc etc. I have tried everything advised including the back up installer and I continue to get the same error message. We then tried on the Mac, thinking that it was a problem with my PC. Same problem though it says 'unable to mount'. So, all I can guess is one of two things. There is a serious problem with Limewire software that they are not addressing (given the number of posts in this thread) or, they are intentionally making the basic Limewire impossible to download to force us to upgrade to Pro, which I am tempted to do but given the reports here, I would probably have the same problem.

So, I suppose I am just asking if anyone knows how to get round this and can help me in simple speak as I am not a geek but work well under instruction. Thanks so much in advance.

What are your system details?
Have you tried installing LW to a different location?
